The band utilises the talents and experience of our more veteran players. The musical team offers sectional training, one-to-one tuition and associate MD skills. This enables the band to grow and adapt

Greg has been playing the cornet/trumpet since 1973 joining the Solent Concert band as a beginner. Over the years he continued to play with the band in the championship section. Performing with the band on BBC radio two’s ‘Friday Night is Music Night; and ‘Listen to the band’. On his 15th birthday he joined the staff band of the Territorial Army, later studying for his bandmaster’s course with Lt. Col Trevor Sharpe. At the age of 19 The British Association of symphonic wind bands awarded Greg a conducting scholarship with Lt. Col. Sir Vivian Dunn.

Tracey from the Isle of Wight started playing the cornet at age 7, passing Grade 5 practical exam by the age of 10, she went on to teach herself Grade 5 Theory which she passed by the age of 12.

6 months later at the age of 13 she took her Grade 8 Associated Board exam and passed, also becoming the youngest ever principle cornetist for the Island based brass band, the Ryde Concert Band.

As well as playing for several brass bands and London Orchestras throughout the years Tracey has also won countless awards for solo performances that include best instrumentalist at several SCABA contests.

Chris have been a professional drummer for 35 years. He started playing with the Solent Youth Concert Band at a tender age and was proud to be a part of their award-winning era under the leadership of Wes Garner. Chris lived in Nashville Tennessee for 20 years 1996-2016. Prior to moving to the States, he was a theatre musician in London as well as national and international tours before moving to Nashville, where he combined his drumming work with private lessons in both Portsmouth and London. He was the drum instructor at a music school in Nashville from 1998-2002.

Since graduation Jamie has undertaken a wide variety of performance work. In 2010 he worked for China Town Arts playing trumpet for their production of Piccadilly Revisited at the Royal Opera House Linbury Studio Theatre in Covent Garden. In the same year Jamie played flugelhorn during a task set for contestants on the last series of Big Brother to be screened on Channel 4. Jamie has also worked for P&O Cruises and Disney Cruise Lines winning the Disney Musician of the Year prize in 2012. His band Brando have been featured on BBC Radio and have performed at several UK Festivals including a headline slot at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2015. Brando, with Jamie continue to perform all over the world most recently visiting Portugal, Austria, Spain, France, Switzerland and Barbados in 2018.
