BMus (hons) LLCM
Tracey from the Isle of Wight started playing the cornet at age 7, passing Grade 5 practical exam by the age of 10, she went on to teach herself Grade 5 Theory which she passed by the age of 12.
6 months later at the age of 13 she took her Grade 8 Associated Board exam and passed, also becoming the youngest ever principle cornetist for the Island based brass band, the Ryde Concert Band.
In Oct 99 after passing her GCSE and A Level Music Tracey went to the London College of Music where she studied a 3 year music degree specializing in the Trumpet performance. She graduated with 2:1 hons in Oct 02.
While at music college she passed the LLCM Diploma and was awarded the British Reserve Brass Prize for solo performance.Highlights at college included being photo featured in the Guardian newspaper and British Bandsman. Taking master classes from James Watson, being conducted by composer Nigel Clarke and being offered a place to study her Masters at the Royal Academy of Music with no audition required.
After graduating Tracey come home to the Island and took some time out from playing.
In 2008 she decided to start playing again and under the leadership of Dr Nick Grace OBE she joined Ocean Brass subsequently becoming their principle within 6 months of joining.
She held this title until she left in 2015. The next couple of years saw her depping for several bands until being asked to become a full time principle player for Gosport Solent in 2017.
As well as playing for several brass bands and London Orchestras throughout the years Tracey has also won countless awards for solo performances that include best instrumentalist at several SCABA contests.
