"Fanfare for Gosport" Recording Session

The Band took part in a recording session at the weekend performing and recording Kirsty Devaney's musical composition, "Fanfare for Gosport".

The Band had performed the first public performance of "Fanfare for Gosport" last Summer, and we teamed up with Kirsty and the "New Dimensions" team to produce a recording of her fantastic piece.

"Fanfare for Gosport" acknowledges and celebrates the heritage and people of Gosport, and each movement of the piece reflects an aspect of our town. The soundtrack and video are being produced now, so watch this space!

Thank you to Kirsty and Tammy for giving the band the opportunity to take part in your project, and we would like to wish you both every success for the future!

Everybody on the Bus!

The Band traveled up to Woodstock in Oxfordshire to take part in the Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association's Winter Contest.  The band was delighted to be placed 4th out of the 10 competing bands. Just a few points away from Crystal Palace Brass and Syston Band who were both at the 2016 National Finals.

A fantastic day out both musically and socially for us all, and a great warm up ready for the Regionals in a couple of weeks time!

Thank you to the organisers and helpers at the ODBBA for holding such a well organised event!

Winners!

The Band took part in the Wessex Winter Contest in Bournemouth on 26th November, and finished the day winning 2 trophies! We performed one of our favourite marches "Bramwyn", followed by the test piece "Four Little Maids". We won a trophy for Best March in the lower sections, and came 2nd within the Fourth Section for our performance of "Four Little Maids".

"Fanfare For Gosport" - Gosport Heritage Open Day

The Band were proud to perform the first public performance of "Fanfare for Gosport" at the Royal Clarence Yard's Gosport Heritage Open Day. The piece is composed by Kirsty Devaney and is commissioned by Hampshire-wide music initiative, New Dimensions.

"Fanfare for Gosport" acknowledges and celebrates the heritage and people of Gosport, and each movement of the piece reflects an aspect of our town.  As well as performing this piece, the Band also performed a wide selection of musical hits and favourites which were greatly received by a large audience of listeners (and some dancers!).

We were so pleased to help support the Gosport Heritage Open Day, and hopefully look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Seas The Day!

The Band proudly supported the Grand Prix of the Seas, the P1 Supertstock International Powerboat Racing Event.  The competition is currently taking place worldwide in different locations, and in partnership with Gosport Borough Council we were honoured to perform on our home turf at Stokes Bay this afternoon to support this massive event!  Thanks to everyone that came along to support us today!
